The route from Barnet
From most of Barnet, the drive to Heathrow starts by heading north to the M25 at South Mimms or Potters Bar, then west round the motorway to the airport junctions. It's about 28 miles and usually takes 45 to 60 minutes. The M25 between the M1 and M40 is the stretch most likely to slow down, so we build extra time into early morning and Friday afternoon pickups.
From Mill Hill and Totteridge, we sometimes go via the M1 instead. Your driver will choose the quickest route on the day.
Which terminal?
- Terminals 2 and 3 share the middle of the airport, reached through the tunnel under the runway.
- Terminal 4 stands on its own on the south side, with a separate road in.
- Terminal 5, home to British Airways, has its own spur road straight off the M25.
Tell us your terminal when you book. If you're not sure, your airline's booking confirmation will show it, and it's worth checking: going to the wrong terminal can cost twenty minutes.
Why not the Piccadilly line?
From Cockfosters or Southgate, the Piccadilly line runs all the way to Heathrow, so it's tempting. But it's well over an hour and a half end to end, standing room only at rush hour, with dozens of stops. From High Barnet you'd need the Northern line into town and a change. With luggage or children, a Barnet to Heathrow taxi is simply easier, and for two or more people the fare often compares well.
Meet and greet on the way home
Book your return with your flight number. We watch the flight's progress and move the pickup if it lands early or late, so a delay never leaves you stranded. Your driver stands in arrivals holding a sign with your name, then takes the trolley to the car.
Airport charges
Heathrow charges cars for stopping outside the terminals, and a driver who meets you inside has to use the short-stay car park. We'll explain how both are covered when we quote your fare.
