A town the railway built
Until the middle of the nineteenth century, the land between Barnet and East Barnet was mostly fields. Then the Great Northern Railway opened a station here in 1850, and New Barnet grew up around it: terraces and villas along Station Road, Lyonsdown and the streets rising towards Hadley.
That history still shows in how people travel. New Barnet is a commuter town, and a lot of our bookings are timed around trains: early runs to the station, late pickups when the last connection has gone, and cabs home when the weather turns.

Great Northern trains from New Barnet head south to Finsbury Park and into central London, and north towards Hatfield and Welwyn Garden City. Tell us which side of the station you'll come out and the time of your train, and your driver will be waiting.
For long-distance trains, a New Barnet cab straight to King's Cross saves changing at Finsbury Park with your luggage.
Short trips worth booking
Plenty of our New Barnet journeys are only a few minutes long: up the hill to the High Street in High Barnet, across to Barnet Hospital, or over to the parade in East Barnet. No trip is too small to book, and short local fares are shown in the form just like the long ones.
Flying from New Barnet
New Barnet's position on the northern edge of London makes both Stansted and Luton easy runs via the M25. Early Stansted flights are one of our most common bookings here. Tell us the flight time and we'll suggest a pickup that leaves room for the motorway.
